Project Garin consisted of the construction of a 24MW data center and supporting buildings in Prineville, Oregon.

OEG performed all electrical scopes for the building from the medium voltage incoming feeders to the final outlets and everything in between. Scope items of particular interest are the electrical room skids that were pre-fabricated (by others) off-site, delivered in sections, and moved into the electrical rooms. Some sections of the electrical room skids weighed as much as 120,000 lbs. each. Another notable scope was the Power Distribution Controls System, which was very complex and included close to a million feet of controls wire and 26,000 terminations. Through our kitting and work package system, all installations were pre-fabricated and kitted in our prefab shop in Eugene, approximately 3 hours away.  Even with the distance, we were able to shift 14% of our labor hours off-site.

Challenges/Solutions:

This project presented many challenges that the team was able to find creative solutions to. Most notable was the significant delays for the MV equipment that were caused by supply chain issues. This delayed the power on to the project and required a lot of out-of-the-box thinking to overcome the schedule impacts of the dealy.
